Introduction to Airedale NHS Trust and it's Education Centre
Airedale NHS Trust’s vision is
“ to be a truly world class, local healthcare provider, recognised by everyone as being a superb organisation to belong to, one that works flexibly and in partnership to ensure the best deal for patients, leading and innovating on new ways of delivery, confident about its role and in command of the future”.
The skills and capabilities of our staff are central to the delivery of our vision and we have a strong tradition and excellent record in recognising the contribution that training and development makes to organisational success.
As an accredited Investor in People and NHS Improving Working Lives Practice Plus we will continue to:
- Develop all employees to achieve the Trust’s service objectives
- Regularly review the training and development needs of all employees
- Train and develop individuals on appointment, and throughout their employment
- Evaluate the investment in training and development to assess achievement and improve future effectiveness
There are many opportunities for learning and development for us all. It is easy to identify training activities such courses, lectures, workshops, e- learning packages, private study and research and work based or college based qualifications, but often more important is the learning that should occur every day in our normal working practice.
On the job training, work shadowing, reflective practice, keeping up to date with new equipment and techniques, and practices, and reading, all contribute to our learning and development at work, together with making best use of opportunities to learn from others by observation at work or in meetings, participating in projects and audits, in sharing good practice, and in continuously evaluating, challenging and improving what we do.
This prospectus brings together a range of general training and development courses and workshops available to staff, that have been identified as supporting individual and service development and performance in delivering the Trust objectives and meeting future needs.
It will continue to be developed to show clear links with the Knowledge and Skills Framework to help managers and staff to choose appropriate activities to meet the individual training and development needs.
The number and timing of particular activities are based on assessed need and economies of scale and generally run during the day Monday to Friday. However where this is not practical for individuals or departments, please contact us to discuss alternative arrangements.
More specialised training and development opportunities are available via the Trust Education Centre web site, within departments and of course through external colleges and other organisations.
We have many training and subject specialists across the Trust; if you and your manager are unsure who to approach to discuss opportunities available, or have ideas for improvements or the development of new training activities and please contact me or anyone within the Education Centre.
